What do a leopard seal, a motorcycle, and Saturn all have in common?  They’re all one of the awesome prizes kids can win on IXL!

We know it’s not always easy to get kids excited about practicing math, which is why we created IXL game boards.  The boards start off blank, but with practice, practice, practice, kids can fill the squares with all kinds of treasures!  They earn virtual prizes for accomplishments like mastering a skill or practicing for a certain amount of time. The game boards are unique to each child, and the anticipation of uncovering a virtual prize keeps kids intrigued for hours—often inspiring competition amongst classmates and friends.

To make things even more engaging, every grade level has its own game board and theme, like a mini world just waiting to be explored.  Kids can wander through a winter wonderland in fourth grade, enjoy the great outdoors in sixth grade, or discover the mysteries of outer space when practicing geometry.  A square with a question mark tells them a prize is just around the corner.  If they hover over it with their pointer, they can see what they need to do to collect their award—just the nudge they need to keep practicing!

(Tip: Kids can turn their favorite prize into their personal avatar by simply dragging and dropping it in the top right corner of the window, next to their name.)

IXL’s 8th grade gameboard is full of cool places to discover, like the Grand Canyon and Mount Kilimanjaro!

Hi, Ashley. We’re still working on language arts, but you can be sure the prizes will be just as fun!

I don’t like the fact that whenever you leave something small out like in one I left out an = that it doesn’t give you credit

can you fix that?

Hi, Owen. We have recently released a feature that allows for common typos in answers. We appreciate your suggestion on how we can improve upon this feature, and we will pass it along to the development team.

I was doing some rounding the other day and if I forgot to use a dash they marked it wrong and that frustrates me!

Hi, Manya. We’re so sorry that you’re feeling frustrated. We’re interested in protecting students from accidentally entering typos in their answers and are always considering different ways to do so in the future. Thanks for taking the time to let us know your thoughts!

Maybe you guys can add a question that can ask you if you’re sure about the answer you put in? Because my keyboard has this key glitch with the 9, and I accidentally pressed Enter and I got the question wrong.
