Take the Work out of Homework (Part 1)

October 16, 2012

At Home, In the Classroom

Do your students groan at the mention of homework?  We’ll let you in on a little secret: With IXL, you can easily take the work out of homework for your students—and for you!  We hear from teachers and parents all the time about kids who actually ask to go on IXL at home, or who practice on IXL longer than required because it’s just so much fun.  But that’s not all; IXL also takes the stress out of assigning homework!

Here are few ways IXL can help:

1. Because IXL is so comprehensive, you’ll have no trouble finding a skill that corresponds to your lesson for the day.  We have problems for identifying shapes in pre-Kindergarten, determining geometry probability in high school, and everything in between.

2. If you go to the Practice tab and hover over a skill, a sample problem pops up.  This shows you exactly the kinds of problems your students will be getting, without you having to click through every skill.

3. Each skill has a unique alphanumeric code, so there’s no need to copy down chapter titles or long lists of page numbers; just ask your fourth graders to practice skill F.4 for 20 minutes and they’ll know multi-step word problems are on the agenda!

With all the things you do in class, stressing out about homework preparation doesn’t have to be one of them.  Next week, we’ll show you how IXL also makes grading homework a snap!
