IXL for the Homeschooler

Being a parent to your children is a full-time job, so when you’re also their teacher, it can feel like working overtime!

IXL is happy to support you in this challenging but important role. Many homeschoolers use our family membership plan as part of their daily lessons. Here are few positive things we’ve heard from homeschool families:

  • Use a single math practice solution for all of your children. You get access to all grade levels on IXL, which is perfect for instructing children of various ages and skill levels. This also means that the program “grows” with your children as they progress, without you having to purchase new materials or pay for access to more advanced grade levels. At the same time, each child receives his or her own profile, so you can keep track of his or her individual progress.
  • Decrease the amount of time you spend planning and grading. Avoid the time-consuming task of creating math worksheets and have your children practice on IXL instead, where we offer an unlimited number of problems to help them hone their math skills. With more than 2,000 skills available, you can be sure we have the material you need to support the lessons you teach. Plus, children receive instant feedback when they submit an answer, so there’s no need to grade their work manually. When children answer a question incorrectly, they’re provided with a specific explanation on how to solve the problem properly, so you’ll spend less time explaining, too!
  • Move at the pace that’s most appropriate for your child. One of the advantages of homeschooling is that you have more time to focus on each individual child’s needs. IXL facilitates this by adapting questions to children’s ability levels and letting them take things at their own pace. For example, if your child is practicing fractions but wants to move on to another task before completing the fractions skill, or if it’s time to switch to another subject, your child can stop practicing and start right where he or she left off the next time he or she logs in to IXL.
  • Monitor your children’s progress quickly, and in detail. IXL Analytics gives you meaningful, up-to-date information on your child’s improvement. Our reports cover everything from trouble spots to curriculum mastery, easy-to-read graphs and insights. You can even sign up to receive daily or weekly progress reports in your e-mail inbox—a quick and easy way to stay on top of your children’s progress.

IXL enjoys supporting all types of learning environments, and we hope homeschool families will take advantages of our many features that fit their needs!
