3, 2, 1… IXL Science and IXL Social Studies Coming Soon!

November 13, 2015

At Home, In the Classroom

The wait is almost over. Our team has been hard at work to bring you the best science and social studies content—and we’re excited to let you know it is launching very soon! The new subjects cover grades 2–5 and contain fun new challenges, introducing students to science and social studies concepts in a whole new way.

Get ready for students to explore the world around them with interactive questions on physical science, life science, and Earth science. Students will discover how to classify states of matter, trace an animal’s life cycle, identify rocks and minerals, interpret weather and climate data, and so much more. We’ve also included fun facts and real-life examples to make science engaging and to push students to develop reasoning skills and draw conclusions.

Our social studies content brings history to life and immerses students in geography, U.S. history, civics, and more. Students will evaluate supply and demand, identify American landmarks, and understand diverse cultural celebrations. We take students beyond facts and dates; through primary sources and other tools, students will explore various historical perspectives and develop critical thinking skills.

We’re so excited to share these new IXL subjects with you, and we hope you’re excited to see them! We’ll have more details for you next week, so stay tuned. What topics are you most looking forward to?

Looking to use this for homeschoolers. When I click on the link above it brings me to some quizzes but I don’t see lessons. Will you have lessons? Will they be interactive?

The IXL Team November 17, 2015 at 3:34 pm

Hi Michelle, we provide practice in thousands of skills rather than tutorials. We do have thorough explanations that are shown to students when they answer a question incorrectly, and these explanations walk students through how to complete the problems. For science and social studies, we also have additional information and facts embedded in the skills that students see as they practice.
