How to track your child’s progress on IXL

Want to see exactly what your child knows, and where they need help? It’s easy with IXL! As your child learns, IXL automatically tracks all of their progress, and generates helpful real-time reports with clear insights that are easy for both parents and learners to read.

These analytics are not only useful for you to take a look at your child’s learning, but it can also be incredibly motivating for learners to see their own improvement. By helping children monitor their growth, they can start to take ownership of their learning, set goals, and celebrate successes.

Whether your child uses IXL in the classroom or at home, read on to see how you can easily track growth together!

IXL Real-Time Diagnostic

If you’re not sure where to start, look no further than the IXL Real-Time Diagnostic! As your learner answers questions in the Diagnostic arena, IXL tells you exactly what their strengths and weaknesses are in key math and English topics.

Tip: Help your learner get started with the IXL Diagnostic with these step-by-step video instructions for grades Pre-K to 2, 3 to 8, and 9 to 12

Once your child completes their initial diagnostic, they’ll receive diagnostic levels for each topic. Encourage them to record their levels on a printable Diagnostic tracker and set goals for themselves. Then, have your learner take the diagnostic monthly to help them see how much they’ve grown.

If you want to help your child maximize their progress, take advantage of IXL’s personalized learning plans! Based on your learner’s unique diagnostic levels, IXL recommends specific skills they should work on to make the most improvement. These recommendations are tailored to your child’s knowledge level and they’ll get updated suggestions when they answer questions in the Diagnostic arena.
