See how your students are engaging with IXL’s robust suite of resources in the newest report for administrators: the Time Spent report for schools and districts

With the Time Spent report, administrators have greater insight than ever into the multitude of ways students are learning and growing on IXL, from assessments to instructional videos and more. It’s easy to stay in-the-know on how your students are using IXL’s variety of learning tools to reach their full potential.

Let’s walk through all the major features of this new report!

See time spent across IXL resources

IXL’s comprehensive curriculum includes more than 17,000 skills in five core subjects—and that’s just the beginning.

Students can make progress in a variety of ways, from working on key concepts as a class in Group Jams, to getting extra support from instructional videos and learning games, to demonstrating what they know in assessments and Quizzes.

With so many resources available, the Time Spent report keeps you informed on where your students are learning and how much time they’re spending in each of six categories:

  • Practice (time spent working on IXL skills)
  • Assessment (may include time spent on the IXL LevelUp™ Math Benchmark Assessment, IXL LevelUp™ Universal Math Screener, IXL Diagnostic, and Common Assessments)
  • Quizzes
  • Group Jams
  • Instructional videos
  • Learning games

At the top of the report, clear visuals give you an easy-to-understand overview of your students’ IXL engagement in each of these areas. The speedometer tracks your students’ total time spent on IXL this school year, while the color-coded chart breaks down time spent in each category, so you always have a pulse on your IXL implementation.

Filter the report to see how students in specific schools, courses, and grades are engaging with IXL’s variety of resources. Plus, you can group by multiple categories to easily compare how the exact student groups you’re interested in are spending their time learning.

The Time Spent report makes it simple to check in on where your students and teachers are spending time on IXL, and helps you ensure that they’re making the most of the many resources available to them.

Time spent learning for teachers

Your teachers can also view data for their students’ time spent learning on IXL in a few different ways:

  • On the Students Quickview, Student Usage, and Student Summary reports, teachers can hover over the “time spent learning” area to see a breakdown of students’ time spent in each category!
  • From their dashboard, teachers can get an overview of their students’ time spent on IXL at school and at home. Plus, they can use their teacher view of the student dashboards to review individual students’ weekly totals.

In addition to the weekly totals on their personal dashboards, students can see their total time spent learning and breakdown by category on their Usage Details and Student Summary reports.
