Major releases
High school chemistry and U.S. history
We’ve added two new courses to our high school curriculum: Chemistry and U.S. history! These courses join our other high school science and social studies offerings, biology and civics & government.
IXL Chemistry skills cover the structure and properties of matter, physical and chemical reactions, stoichiometry, energy changes, and the fundamentals of scientific inquiry. Try out one of the new skills.
IXL U.S. History skills focus on America’s colonial history and revolution, the early republic, the Civil War, the Gilded Age, the Progressive Era, the Great Depression, World Wars I and II, and the Cold War to the present. Explore one of the new skills.
These skills are fully aligned to all 50 state standards, including NGSS for science. Chemistry has standards skill plans for all 50 states, while U.S. history has standards skill plans for 15 states, with more on the way.
IXL Progress Share
Now it’s easier than ever for families to share their children’s progress reports with educators they trust! Progress Share is a new way for teacher accounts on IXL to connect with family accounts and access IXL Analytics reports for students who aren’t on their rosters. This is especially useful for families working with tutors (particularly IXL-certified Wyzant tutors) who have their own IXL teacher accounts.
Once they’ve connected to a student with Progress Share, educators will be able to:
- Identify learning gaps and areas needing improvement
- Track progress in real time through key reports (such as Usage, Trouble Spots, and Scores)
- Plan more personalized lessons based on data-driven insights
- Collaborate more effectively with families to support their children’s success

Feature updates
More frequent score updates in the LevelUp™ Diagnostic
Real-Time mode of the LevelUp Diagnostic provides students with more frequent updates to their scores and recommendations. Previously, students needed to answer about 40 questions before receiving an updated score in Real-Time mode. Now, students who have received a LevelUp score within the past six weeks (from either Real-Time mode or Benchmark mode) will receive updated scores every ten questions. They’ll also receive a message telling them when their scores are updated.
Showing students their updated scores more often will motivate them to use the LevelUp Diagnostic more consistently and take pride in their learning gains. It will also give teachers more frequent insights to support daily instruction.
For students who go six weeks without a score update, the number of questions required to receive an updated score will gradually increase. First it will require 15 questions, then 20, before requiring a full 40-question reassessment after 60 days.

Up-to-date score indicators on the LevelUp Diagnostic Overview report
The LevelUp Diagnostic Overview report now shows a starburst icon next to the names of students with scores from the last 30 days. This indicates their scores have been recently pinpointed. Teachers can use this icon to quickly identify which students have up-to-date LevelUp Math Assessment scores.
After 30 days the starburst icon will disappear, indicating it’s a good time to encourage those students to answer questions in Real-Time mode of the LevelUp Diagnostic again. Students who do not have a pinpointed score from the last 60 days will be grouped in a separate section at the bottom of the report.

IXL LevelUp Assessment Standards Performance reports for Alabama and Minnesota
Teachers in Alabama and Minnesota now have custom-built standards reports for Benchmark mode of the LevelUp Diagnostic aligned to their state standards! With this release, the LevelUp Assessment Standards Performance report is available in 47 states.
With the standards report, teachers can track their students’ knowledge of state standards based on their scores from the LevelUp Diagnostic’s math benchmark.
Stay tuned as we continue to release additional state standards reports in the coming months.
Searching for skills when creating Common Assessments and Quiz Library Resources
When creating Common Assessments and Quiz Library Resources, administrators can now search for skills they’d like to include in their assessments. Administrators with a particular skill in mind can skip navigating menus and get right to the skills they’re looking for, helping them build assessments faster.
Admins can search by both skill names and skill IDs. If the administrator has selected a skill plan, grade, category, or Takeoff lesson plan for their assessment already, the search results will show skills from those groups first.

Students can share Scratchpad work with teachers on the IXL iPad app
IXL’s built-in Scratchpad lets students work through problems by writing on their screen. When working on a math skill or IXL Quiz in the IXL iPad app, students can now share their Scratchpad with their teachers.
After students submit their answer, a screenshot of the question and their Scratchpad work will be included in the Questions Log (for skill practice) or the Quiz Results report (for quizzes). Teachers can use students’ Scratchpad work to check for understanding, even when their students have been working independently.
Grade Passback for Schoology and Canvas LMS
Schools using Schoology or Canvas now have the power to use grade passback for IXL assignments within those Learning Management Systems (LMS)! This simplifies the grading process, enabling teachers to grade IXL skills and quizzes directly in their platform of choice.
Skills will be graded based on whether students hit SmartScore goals set by administrators, and quiz scores are synced directly. As always, teachers can make grading adjustments before publishing each student’s grade into their LMS gradebook.
New language support: Irish, Tigrinya, and Welsh
IXL provides comprehensive language support for 80+ languages, enabling all students to make progress in essential skills, even if they are still building their English language abilities.
We recently added support for additional languages:
- Irish: A Celtic language native to the island of Ireland.
- Tigrinya: An Ethio-Semitic language spoken in Eritrea and Ethiopia’s Tigray region.
- Welsh: A Celtic language native to Wales.
To turn on language support for learners, go to your Profile & Settings page and “Enable translation support” for select students.
