A new way to make the most of suggested skills

Teachers, lesson planning on IXL just got even easier! You can now schedule your suggested skills so that they automatically appear on your students’ dashboards exactly when you want them to.

Not only does this keep prep work to a minimum, but you’ll also ensure that your students are working on the right content at the right pace.

Read on to find out how you can start scheduling suggested skills for your classes!

Prepare your skill assignments in advance

Scheduling your suggested skills allows you to get ahead on lesson planning throughout the school year, saving you valuable prep time and keeping upcoming assignments organized.

When you find a skill you’d like to schedule ahead, click the star button. This will automatically suggest the skill to all of your students. Then, you can easily customize to which classes or individual learners you’d like to suggest the skill, enabling you to differentiate skill practice for every student.

Next, choose the date and time you want the skill to appear on your selected students’ dashboards, and click ‘Schedule’ when you’re happy with your selections.

On your teacher dashboard, you’ll see any skills you’ve scheduled ahead of time listed separately from your actively suggested skills. This makes it simple to keep track of what your students are currently working on, and what they’ll be moving on to next!

At the exact date and time you selected, your scheduled skills will appear at the top of your students’ dashboards, so they’ll always know what they should be focusing on right now.

When you’re ready to move students on to new skills, simply hover over the star button next to any actively suggested skill on your teacher dashboard, click ‘Clear,’ and it will disappear from students’ views.

Ready to make planning your class assignments easier than ever? Start scheduling your suggested skills today!

And did you know? You can also set SmartScore goals for your suggested skills in your Profile & settings page

When your scheduled suggested skills become active, the SmartScore goals you’ve set will be applied, so students know exactly what you expect from them during practice.
