IXL Focus Zone makes it easier than ever to manage your class and help your students stay on task!
During a Focus Zone, students will have a dedicated, distraction-free environment to work on the specific subjects and grade levels of your choosing. With students set up for focused work, you can spend more one-on-one time helping them learn and grow! Focus Zone is available for all English editions of IXL, including the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.
Let’s take a closer look at using Focus Zone in your classroom.
Manage what your students can access
IXL Focus Zone gives you greater control over what your students spend class time working on. You’ll get to guide them toward the right material and keep them from practicing skills outside your session.
To create a Focus Zone, head over to your ‘Focus Zone’ page under the ‘Engagement tools’ section of your ‘My IXL’ tab.
From here, you’ll choose which students you want to include, the session duration, and the subject and grade levels that your students will be able to access.
Once you’ve customized your Focus Zone to fit your class goals, just click “Launch” to set your students up for focused learning. You can rest assured that your students will be working on relevant content at their appropriate level during your class!
Maximize classroom productivity
Like a bubble to block out distractions, Focus Zone creates the optimal online environment for concentration. By providing a designated time for students to practice on-level material, it’s a handy teacher tool for whenever students would benefit from some extra focus time!
Try out Focus Zone to make it even easier for younger learners to get started on their correct classwork. Or, you might run a session when you want to be sure your older students are working on appropriate skills for their class and grade.
Streamline your classroom management
You’ll get an organized, real-time view of progress for every student in your Focus Zone through Live Classroom!
All of the students in your Focus Zone are grouped together on Live Classroom’s student activity wall, so you can clearly see whether students are understanding class concepts, and quickly step in to help struggling students get back on track.
At the end of your session, or as you release students individually, they’ll return to full access of IXL’s learning platform.
