Not only is IXL Analytics an invaluable teacher resource, it can also be used to keep families regularly informed on their children’s education! With family-friendly reports and built-in tools to streamline the school-home connection, IXL Analytics makes parent involvement easier than ever.
Read on to learn how you can leverage IXL Analytics to help families stay up to date on their children’s learning and foster at-home support.
Relay assessment progress through IXL Action Plans
When students pinpoint their knowledge levels through the IXL Flex Diagnostic or IXL LevelUp™ Diagnostic, they receive a personalized plan of skill recommendations to help them grow from where they are.

By sharing these plans with students’ families, you’ll give parents the opportunity to track their children’s assessment progress and help them work through their skill recommendations at home.
You can email a student’s IXL Action Plan to their parents from within IXL Analytics in a few quick clicks!
- Click the ‘Assessment’ tab in the green navigation bar.
- Select which student’s action plan you want to view.
- Click the blue ‘Share with family’ button at the bottom of the page.
- Confirm to which parent/guardian email address(es) you would like to email the report. You can also choose to send a copy of the email to yourself and/or add a personal message.
- Click ‘Send Email’ to share the report.

You can also print out a student’s action plan to give to families at school meetings, or send it home with students after their latest assessment. Just click the blue “Print action plan” button at the bottom of the page!
Provide an in-depth look at progress with the Student Summary report
Give parents complete insight into their children’s learning through the Student Summary report. This family-friendly report showcases student growth in a comprehensive, easy-to-read format, and it provides specific opportunities for parent support.

Here’s a brief breakdown of how each report section supports the school-home connection:
- Overall growth: The Assessment Levels graph shows parents how well their child understands grade-level math and English language arts material, based on the IXL Flex Diagnostic and/or IXL LevelUp™ Diagnostic.
- IXL accomplishments: With all of their child’s learning achievements in one place, this section is perfect for a family to celebrate the progress their child has made this school year.
- Areas to focus on: Parents receive a roadmap of the exact best next steps they can take to support their child’s growth. They’ll see which skills their child is struggling with, which skills you’ve assigned, and which skills will help their learner make progress on future assessments.
- At-home support: This IXL resource roundup equips parents with a variety of handy links that will help them better support their child outside of the classroom.
The Student Summary report can easily be printed out to share with families at parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, and more! Just click the ‘Print’ button at the top of the report.
And, like IXL Action Plans, you can email this report to students’ families directly from IXL Analytics by following the same simple steps. Plus, you can choose to include a student’s IXL Action Plan in their Student Summary email!
