How to use IXL Leaderboards

Teachers can create a new IXL Leaderboard by hovering over the ‘Engagement tools’ section under the My IXL tab, and clicking the “Leaderboard” link, while signed in to IXL.

When setting up a leaderboard, teachers can personalize what the competition will be based on, the duration of the competition, and which subjects and grade level skills will count.

Teachers can also duplicate any of their previously created leaderboards from past, current, or future competitions by clicking the “Duplicate leaderboard” button. It instantly fills out a new leaderboard creation form with the same selections, making it easy to modify or reuse leaderboards for recurring competitions.

Once created, IXL Leaderboards display the standing of each participant, their specific scores, and the amount of time left in the competition.

Both students and teachers can look at the leaderboard at any time to see the rankings, and refresh the page to view the most up-to-date scores.

Students can also see their leaderboard ranking right on their student dashboard to keep them motivated!

There are so many ways to use IXL Leaderboards in your classroom! Create a leaderboard for a race to see who can answer the most questions correctly in 15 minutes, or hold a regular week-long competition with a prize to reward the student who can master the most skills.

Challenge your students to try their best for the number one rank, and fire up their competitive spirits with IXL Leaderboards!
