Provide original, high-caliber content

IXL SLA gives teachers rigorous, standards-aligned skills to support students learning Spanish literacy. All of IXL’s SLA content is authentically written in Spanish, created from the ground up by expert writers and curriculum designers. It’s built with the same exceptional quality as our award-winning English language arts curriculum.

Our initial SLA skills are focused on reading strategies, and prepare students to read and analyze real-world writing while helping them expand their knowledge of the world.

IXL’s Spanish language arts curriculum is aligned with Common Core en Español standards, so it works effortlessly with other resources schools are using. With IXL skill plans, teachers can quickly find the SLA skills they need when lesson planning.

Energize Spanish learning and assessment

IXL SLA gives students resources they need to make progress on their own. Most notably, every IXL SLA skill comes with a comprehensive video tutorial that features a fun and friendly Spanish-speaking tutor walking through the topic. This in-the-moment support for student self-remediation is key for independent learning, and a lifesaver for teachers who don’t speak Spanish themselves.

For classroom instruction, SLA works with teachers’ favorite IXL tools, including Group Jam and Leaderboards. Get a whole class of Spanish speakers motivated by having them work together on the same questions or face off in a little friendly competition.

When it’s time to assess students, educators can create their own Spanish language arts evaluations using IXL Quizzes, Common Assessments, and Quiz Library. Draw questions directly from IXL SLA skills to quickly build your own tests, and assess students on the exact topics you need.

Combine with IXL ELA

Because IXL SLA comes with IXL ELA’s 2,400+ English skills, teachers can use both together for dual-language education or to transition students from Spanish learning to English learning. Many of IXL’s SLA skills have equivalent English skills, so it’s easy to teach the same topic in both languages. Students using IXL for both SLA and ELA will receive a consistent learning experience across languages and grade levels, streamlining instruction.
