Major releases
IXL Spanish Language Arts
IXL adds a new subject to its curriculum, IXL Spanish Language Arts (SLA)! This subject supports students in bilingual and dual-language programs as they develop fluency in Spanish literacy, whether they’re native Spanish speakers or not.
IXL SLA comes with IXL Language Arts subscriptions for classrooms, schools, and districts, and covers grades 3-5. All of its content is authentically written in Spanish, created from the ground up by expert writers and curriculum designers. Additionally, every skill comes with a comprehensive video tutorial that features a fun and friendly Spanish-speaking tutor walking through the topic.
This initial release of SLA skills is focused on reading strategies, preparing students to read and analyze real-world writing while helping them expand their knowledge of the world. You can explore IXL SLA’s first set of skills now, with many more on the way.

LevelUp™ Diagnostic for grade 9-12 math
The LevelUp™ Diagnostic is now available for grades 9-12! The LevelUp Diagnostic for math now supports grade PreK-12 math topics, extending to cover material that is typically presented in a traditional Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 course sequence or an Integrated I, II, III course sequence.
Additionally, to accommodate the new high school math topics, all LevelUp reports have had their score scales extended to a max score of 1200.
Primary administrators can opt into using the LevelUp Diagnostic for high school students from their account settings.
2025-26 Diagnostic assessment “pick-ahead”
Schools and districts can now pre-select which IXL Diagnostic assessments they’d like to use for the 2025-26 school year! Choosing IXL assessments ahead of time helps ensure a smooth transition to next school year.
Primary administrators can select in advance whether they’d like to use the LevelUp Diagnostic or Flex Diagnostic for PreK-12 math and PreK-12 ELA by the 2025 back-to-school season. This selection is available on the Settings page of the Account tab. If you need help deciding which assessment is right for your school or district, take a look at our LevelUp vs. Flex comparison chart.

IXL Rewind
Teachers can take a joyful look at their journey with IXL over the 2025-25 school year with IXL Rewind! Each teacher will see stats personalized to their usage of IXL, such as top award-earning students, the most difficult skill their class conquered, their class’s favorite game, and all the teacher tools they used this year.
At the end of the presentation, teachers will be able to download images of their stats and share them on social media. This year’s Rewind kicks off an annual tradition that teachers can look forward to at the end of each school year.
The 2024-25 IXL Rewind is available for all teachers using the U.S. edition of IXL with at least 3 hours of activity this school year. You can find a link to Rewind on your dashboard until June 20, and after that you can see your Rewind by going to ixl.com/rewind.

Periodic table for Chemistry skills
Certain high school Chemistry skills now have a full, interactive periodic table to help students answer questions! This in-skill resource helps students quickly access reference materials and stay focused on their work.
Students can select the “Chemistry resources” option near the top of the skill to bring up the periodic table. Try out a skill with this new feature here.

Feature updates
IXL LevelUp high school standards report for Massachusetts
With the LevelUp Diagnostic extending support to high school math, we’re releasing high school standards reports for every state! These reports help teachers track their students’ knowledge of state math standards based on their scores from the LevelUp Diagnostic.

Child’s dashboard preview for IXL parent accounts
Parent accounts can now view their child’s IXL dashboard by selecting the new My IXL tab on the green navigation bar! This makes it easier for parents and guardians to see their child’s progress and which topics IXL is recommending for them.

Calculator for Android phone and tablet app
Students can now use IXL’s in-assessment calculator in the IXL Android phone and tablet apps. This means the calculator is available for all mobile devices!
When working on select middle- and high-school-level diagnostic questions that offer calculator support, students can open the calculator by tapping the icon in the bottom-right corner of their screen. Depending on the question, students will see either a four-function calculator or a scientific calculator.
The in-assessment calculator helps students stay focused on their work while better preparing them for state tests.

Upgraded language support settings
IXL’s language support settings have been improved to make setting up translations faster and easier for teachers. Changes include:
- Teachers are able to enable translations for an entire class or roster at once.
- Students with translation enabled will appear at the top of the list so that teachers can easily see which languages have already been set.
- A new search bar in the language dropdown allows teachers to quickly find and select languages.

New Takeoff resources
Takeoff has been updated with new resources to help teachers working on math in the classroom, as well as prompts for student reflection.
Math practice alignments and tips:
We’ve added helpful information to guide math practice for teachers in select states (CA, CT, DE, DC, HI, IL, MD, MI, NV, VT, WA, and WY).
Alignments to the Standards for Mathematical Practice will appear in each unit, lesson, mid-unit check-in, and end-of-unit test. These practices describe how students should think, reason, and communicate in math. Our alignments help teachers focus on the right practices at the right time and make it clear which ones are assessed.
Additionally, a new “Math practices” tab on unit outline pages will offer teacher-facing notes on how to support the practices across the unit. These tips explain what actions teachers can take to help students build habits of mind aligned to each lesson.
We’ll be adding math practice alignments and tips for more states over time.
Student self-reflections:
Each unit will include optional self-reflection activities to support student agency. Found on the additional resources page, these prompts encourage students to reflect on what they already know before starting a unit—and what they’ve learned (or want to learn more about) after finishing it.
Takeoff alignment to Kentucky state standards
We have added alignments for the Kentucky Academic Standards for math to our K-5 Takeoff curriculum. Kentucky educators signed into a Takeoff account will see the Kentucky standards in various places, such as on each grade level’s landing page and at the top of each unit and lesson.
