I tink IXL is great, but it’s still missing something. I was practising on duolingo yesterday and i realised something: I was hooked to doing more and more for the virtual curency that they gave me for every skill that i completed. I think we could implement this into IXL. For example, after a skill, a student could get a certain amount of “excel coins” after mastering a skill, depending on it’s difficulty.

These excel coins can then be used to buy things to put in a user’s learning garden. Examples of items that you can get in the shop could be a cheap wind spinner or an expensive water fountain. I just think that the awards aren’t really working for me, and the currency way works much better in engagin me into the learning experience, and i’m sure plenty of other people would agree. I hope you seriously think about this!
