National norms visualization in Diagnostic and Screener Levels

District and school administrators, easily see how your students are performing compared to national averages! The Diagnostic Levels and Screener Levels reports now show a visual breakdown of students’ national percentile ranks.

The new “National Norms” view displays an overall distribution of percentile ranks at the top, as well as a distribution of percentile ranks for each school, grade, or course. Administrators can also filter these reports by percentile ranks (for example, you could choose to only view students that are between percentiles 10 and 49).

Administrators can also see students’ percentile ranks within the data charts, and easily export the reports.

Biology and civics & government for high school

We’ve added two new courses to our high school curriculum: biology and civics & government! With these new courses, our science and social studies content spans kindergarten all the way to high school.

IXL Biology skills cover structures and processes of living things, inheritance and variation of traits, ecology, and evolution, as well as key concepts about the process of scientific inquiry.

IXL Civics & Government skills focus on origins and fundamentals of U.S. government, civil rights and liberties, elections and political parties, and economic policy, covering key content knowledge while building social studies vocabulary and analysis skills.

These new skills are fully aligned to all 50 state standards, including NGSS for science. We’ve added standards skill plans for 25 states, with more skill plans to come!

Feature updates

Export national norms from Diagnostic Overview

Teachers can now easily export their students’ nationally normed percentile scores on the IXL Real-Time Diagnostic, in addition to the universal screener. This gives educators more control over valuable data that shows how their students compare to grade-level peers nationwide.

To export national norm data, select the “include student percentiles” option when exporting from the Diagnostic Overview report.

“Student responses” tab in Quiz Analysis

The Quiz Analysis report’s new “Student responses” tab helps teachers take a closer look at how their class answered questions in IXL Quizzes. Teachers can view all student responses question-by-question after a quiz has ended, with matching student responses grouped together. This new tab makes it easy to see the most common misconceptions for each question and create small groups for review.

Access student dashboards from the My IXL tab

Teachers can now easily find a student’s dashboard by navigating to “Student dashboards” under the My IXL menu. This allows teachers to quickly view a student’s suggested skills and recent practice history, giving them more insights into their students’ IXL experience.
