Major releases
IXL LevelUp™ Diagnostic Snapshot
We’ve released a new type of assessment window designed for frequent, lightweight student monitoring throughout the school year, the IXL LevelUp™ Diagnostic Snapshot! This flexible progress check gives administrators an updated view of student math and ELA performance between major assessment windows.
While LevelUp Benchmarks give you foundational data on student progress, Snapshots build on students’ existing LevelUp Diagnostic activity—including previous Benchmarks, Snapshots, and Real-Time mode practice. When students have recent Diagnostic activity, many can complete a Snapshot in as little as 15 minutes per subject.
In addition to monitoring student growth throughout the year, district leaders can use Snapshot data to:
- Compare performance across schools, classrooms, and grade levels
- Understand where students are growing and where they may need additional support
- Identify trends and determine next steps with confidence
Administrators can set up LevelUp Snapshot assessment windows in Administrator Settings. Teachers can see scheduled Snapshot windows in their Assessment tab, and students will be notified of active Snapshots through both a banner and the Assessment module on their student dashboard.
Once a Snapshot is finished, admins and teachers will see Snapshot data integrated into their existing LevelUp Diagnostic reports.
New IXL app experience
IXL now has a more powerful app with additional features, a refreshed look more similar to IXL.com, and easier navigation. Some of the biggest changes are:
- Students now start on their dashboard when they sign in, where they can track progress, celebrate successes, and discover what to work on next.
- New navigation bars on the side and top of the screen make it easier for students to quickly find what they’re looking for.
- The iOS, Android, and Fire OS apps now all support the same features, including Group Jam, IXL Games, Universal Screeners, and IXL Spanish Language Arts skills.
This new app is available for all English editions of IXL on iOS, Android, and Fire OS.
Feature updates
Student Diagnostic Growth report includes past year data
We have updated the Student Diagnostic Growth report so teachers and administrators can view individual student Diagnostic data from last school year. Previously, the Student Diagnostic Growth report only showed data from the current school year.
This update makes this popular report more useful for educators transitioning into the new school year. Teachers and administrators will be able to get a longer-term perspective on student growth and more easily determine key next steps for students.
To include past-year data in the Student Diagnostic report, educators can check the box in the top-right corner of the report that says “Include previous school year.” Student information, selected filters, and the strands shown on the report will all still reflect students’ current rostering and grade level.
Skill suggestion search bar
The skill suggestion menu now has a search bar, so teachers can search for students when suggesting skills and Raceway challenges. This enables teachers, particularly with large rosters, to assign skills to specific students more efficiently.
StudyWise score bulk uploader
IXL’s StudyWise tool turns students’ previous test scores into personalized study plans. Now, administrators can securely upload assessment scores to IXL all at once to quickly generate StudyWise plans for their students!
Admins can access the uploader from the bottom of the StudyWise landing page, and use it to generate plans for the following assessments:
- NWEA MAP Growth
- FastBridge
- i-Ready
- Renaissance Star
- SAT
- ACT
- PreACT
- FAST
After uploading scores, admins will receive an email notification once the StudyWise plans are ready for students.
LevelUp ELA Diagnostic standards report for SD
We’ve released a standards report for the LevelUp ELA Diagnostic aligned to the latest South Dakota standards. South Dakota teachers are expected to teach these standards in the 2026-27 school year, and this change supports educators in transitioning to them.
Skill plan updates and new skills
New math skills
We’ve released a few new skills for high school math:
- Solve multi-step linear inequalities: word problems (Algebra 1): Students analyze real-world scenarios by creating and solving representative inequalities. This skill requires students to think critically about how to model information mathematically and asks them to interpret their final solutions in context.
- Domain of rational functions (Algebra 2): Students analyze rational functions using both graphs and equations to determine their domain. This skill reinforces foundational concepts around functions, specifically helping students understand when a fractional equation is defined and when it is not.
- Find volumes using the washer method: revolve around the x-axis or y-axis (Calculus): Students apply integration techniques to calculate the volume of 3D solids. The skill’s explanations break down the washer method conceptually, featuring clear 3D diagrams and helpful support for setting up the required integrals.
New English language arts skills
We’ve added a handful of new ELA skills:
- Read along with narrative poetry (Grade 1): Students listen and read along with a four-part narrative poem. The plot lines are whimsical and engaging, and the questions help build reading comprehension skills.
- Choose the short o word that matches the picture: set 2 (Grade 1): This short vowel skill allows students to practice reading short o words in isolation, specifically targeting words with consonant blends.
- Complete the sentence with the affixed word (Grades 4 & 5): These foundational skills help students practice decoding complex, multisyllabic words within a sentence-level context.
- Analyze the development of theme (Grade 10): Students analyze how the author’s choices suggest broader themes in excerpts from literary texts.
New Spanish language arts skills
We’ve added seven new SLA skills. A few highlights include:
- ¿Cuántas sílabas tiene la palabra? [How many syllables does the word have?] (Kindergarten): Students view an illustration and listen to a recording of the corresponding word. They then use what they hear to identify and select the correct number of syllables in the word.
- Completar la rima [Complete the rhyme] (Grade 1): Students complete a fill-in-the-blank sentence with a word that rhymes with another word in the sentence.
- Leer ciencia ficción [Read science fiction] (Grade 2): Students independently read short science fiction texts paired with engaging illustrations and answer reading strategies questions that guide their understanding of the story.
New science skills
We’ve released a number of new science skills:
- Earth’s atmospheric layers (Grades 6-8)
- Conduction, convection, and radiation (Grades 6-8)
- Digital and analog signals (Grades 6-8)
- How does mass affect gravitational force? (Grades 6-8)
- Metals and alloys (Chemistry)
- Model heating, cooling, and changes of state (Chemistry)
- Analyzing circuits using Kirchhoff’s voltage law (Physics)
- Electromagnetic waves: speed, frequency, and wavelength (Physics)
- Calculate work from force-displacement graphs (Physics)
New social studies skills
We’ve released nine new social studies skills:
- Independence Day (Grades 2-3)
- Memorial Day (Grades 2-3)
- Helen Keller (Grades 2-3)
- Country profile: Mexico (Grades 6-8)
- Pre-contact Native peoples: mound-building cultures (Grades 6-8)
- Identify bias (Grades 7-8)
- The Vietnam War: part II (Grades 7-8)
- Mercantilism and salutary neglect (U.S. History)
- The road to the American Revolution (U.S. History)
New textbook skill plans
We’ve released skill plans for the following textbooks:
Math:
- Mathspace Virginia (Grades 6-8; Algebra I; Geometry; Algebra II; Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis; and Trigonometry)
- Texas Bluebonnet Learning Math (Geometry and Algebra II)
New standards skill plans
We’ve released new standards skill plans for:
- Washington Math standards (adopted in 2025) (Grades K-8, Integrated 1-3, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and High School Credit 3)
- Louisiana Student Standards (adopted in 2025) (Algebra III, Precalculus, Advanced Functions and Statistics, and Probability and Statistics)
- New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Science (Grades K-8, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
Additional releases
New math, ELA, and SLA video tutorials
Math:
This release includes 13 new math video tutorials, covering topics such as finding all the factor pairs of a number and weighted averages.
Language arts:
We’ve added five new ELA videos for skills at the high school level. These videos cover topics like identifying elements of poetry and analyzing passages from The Great Gatsby.
Additionally, we’ve released two new videos for recently introduced SLA skills across grades PK-5. These videos cover topics such as reading historical fiction with illustrations (leer ficción histórica con ilustraciones).
Takeoff Grade 6 Unit 3 available
Over the summer we introduced Takeoff Grade 6. We released Unit 1 to both the National and California editions, as well as Unit 2 to the National edition. Now, Unit 3: Fraction division is available for the National edition! In this unit, students learn how to divide fractions, then apply this knowledge to evaluate expressions and solve problems involving fraction operations.
Additionally, Unit 2: Operations with whole numbers and decimals is now available in the California edition.
Spanish translation for Takeoff Grade 6 Unit 2
We have translated Takeoff Grade 6 Unit 2 into Spanish! Unit 2 includes Spanish versions of the student workbook PDFs, independent practice PDFs, and the unit test. This support is available for both the National and California editions.
New Takeoff slide decks in Spanish
We’ve released Spanish versions of Takeoff instructional slides for both the National and California editions for Grade 6 Unit 1. These slides are available as downloadable PowerPoint files in the Materials section of each lesson.
New math and science skills for CA, UK, and AU
We’ve released a large number of new math skills in our Canadian, Australian, and UK editions. Here are a few examples:
- In the Year 1 Australian skill Record data in tables, students categorize objects and represent the numbers of each in a table. We’ve released similar skills in Canada and the UK, which will provide young students great practice in working with data!
- In the Grade 8 Canadian skill Describe scatter plots, students analyze scatter plots to identify patterns such as clustering, outliers, or associations between variables. We have released similar skills in Australia and the UK.
- The new UK Calculus skill Solve initial value problems involving linear motion has students tackle problems that connect position, velocity, and acceleration. This skill demonstrates the real-world value of math by linking core calculus concepts about integrals and rates of change to practical physics applications. We have also released this skill in Canada and Australia.
We’ve released some new science skills in these editions as well. Here are a few examples:
- In the Grade 5 Canadian skill Particles of matter, students use particle models to describe how particles interact in solids, liquids, and gases, and to explain how different types of matter interact as a diver jumps from a diving board into a swimming pool. This skill is also available for AU Years 5-6.
- In the Years 10-11 UK skill Active transport, students review the difference between passive and active transport and explore how molecules cross the cell membrane via protein pumps, endocytosis, and exocytosis. This skill is also available for CA Grade 10.
